#9 Inspiration for Siemens: Urban Ideas

It’s Friday!!! I thought I would bring everyone something that is a bit inventive and could possibly be very cool. Hopefully we all remember biology in high school when we learned about photosynthesis. A team at Imperial College London is currently trying to build artificial trees and leaves that can absorb sunlight and turn it into energy. Much like real trees do but these trees will provide power for cities. They are meant to blend in with actual trees in urban environments in order to give them a more aesthetically pleasing look. There are several companies working on developing this kind of technology that utilize different forms.

Could you imagine somewhere like Arizona having artificial trees that generate electricity based on heat? These trees might be a bit far fetched to think about right now but in the future it is entirely possible you could be walking past artificial trees in the future.
