Google is looking into how to advertise with virtual reality.
This past Wednesday (June 28th), Google revealed ways they could show ads with virtual reality. This is part of Google’s new project, Area 120 Workshop, designed to allow employees to quickly test new ideas to see if they can be successful products.
It’s also another avenue for Google to pitch the idea to developers to make new Virtual Reality apps. Considering the fact that a majority of Google’s revenue comes from online advertisements, it makes sense they’re interested in VR ads.
Although it’s still in early development and no virtual reality ads will be released anytime soon, Google has been reaching out to developers to test the new project on the Google Cardboard headset, Daydream VR headset, and the Samsung Gear VR Headset.
