Facebook launched Facebook Spaces yesterday and it’s one step closer to what our future might look like.
Facebook Spaces is a new entertaining way of interacting with your friends via the Oculus Rift VR headset. Distance is no longer an issue when it comes to meeting up with your friends and family; spaces allows you to create your own environment, even allowing you to share your 2D media on a virtual screen within your VR room.
Your friends will be able to recognize you via a customizable avatar. Facebook Spaces is all about being yourself and sharing new experiences without having to leave your actual room. Facebook Spaces even comes with a selfie stick that you can take group selfies with. You have the ability to completely control your virtual reality space.
Don’t have an Oculus Rift VR headset? Not to worry, you can join in on the fun too. Those who have created a Facebook Space still have the ability to video call friends via Messenger and let them view and be part of the virtual reality space.
This is just the beginning stages of Facebook Spaces, the company plans to build in-app games that you can play with your friends, as well as other options like listening to music together.
