Continue reading to find out more about who Lucas is and all about his work as a creative.
Don’t forget to follow him here:
1. Tell us about yourself, personally and creatively.
Well my name is Lucas MK, and I am a photographer/aspiring cinematographer from Los Angeles, California. I’m 21 years young and I have a passion for digital art and filmmaking. I hope to use the skills that I have acquired to work in creative advertising.
2. What brought you to the Zooppa community?
I came across Zooppa a few years ago, back when I was in high school. I didn’t really take interest in participating until my sophomore year of college.
3. What do you like most about crowdsourced projects?
For someone like myself, crowdsourced projects are a great gateway to my work being discovered. I’m graduating soon, and I can’t tell you how many resumes/applications/
portfolios I’ve dished out, only to be thrown in a pile and never looked at. Zooppa gives me the opportunity to showcase my work, and to let my work do the talking.
4. Name 3 artists that have influenced your work.
Unfortunately, I didn’t pay attention in art history class, so my influence doesn’t really come from famous artists throughout history. I get inspired everyday by artists like myself, or by content I see on TV or social media.
5. Where do/did you go to school? How has your education influenced your design?
I currently attend Columbia College Hollywood, which is a very small, private film school in Los Angeles. My emphasis is in cinematography, which has contributed greatly to my photography.
6. What is your favorite style and artistic medium to work on?
Well I have several ways that I approach my work. My strength is definitely in landscape photography, and the surreal enhancements I do to my work. That also translates to my product photography as well.
7. Where can we find you on a Saturday afternoon?
On a Saturday afternoon I am most likely hanging out at my apartment, or out capturing photos or video.
8. Choose 5 words to describe your art.
If I were to describe my work in a few words, I would use the words: edgy, surreal, exaggerated, beautiful, and tasteful.
9. What projects are you currently working on?
Right now I have several wrist-fashion clients. I often take their products around the city, or in a studio space, and I capture images that they would use for their advertising purposes. Soon I would like to transition to more fashion products – such as shoes, clothes, glasses, etc.
10. What drew you to participate in this campaign?
When I saw this campaign and it’s search for landscape images – It would been foolish of me to ignore such a challenge. Landscape photography is one of my specialties, so I saw this as a chance to get my work discovered.
11. What is one piece of advice you would give to your fellow Zooppa community members?
My advice to Zooppa members is to just keep submitting work and to participate. My roommate and myself worked very hard and submitted to a few campaigns last summer and fall. To our disappointment, non of our work was selected, which discouraged us from participating. After a long break, I decided to give it another go, and I managed to get a few placements for the first time ever.
12. 10 years from now where will we see you and your artwork?
10 years from now I see my self as a creative director at a creative agency. I want my creative intellect to be used as a tool in how the world sees a brand.
