This week’s Featured Zooppa Member comes to us all the way from Stockholm, Sweden. Erik Andersson is a director and 3D artist whose latest piece won him 1st place in the Lindsay Olives campaign. Read a little bit more about the multi-talented filmmaker!
What first interested you in film?
Hmm, hard to remember. I think it was the whole “magic” around film; the tricks, the sets, the cameras. I wanted to know how they did it, just like you do when a magician shows you a magic trick.
What drew you to the Zooppa community?
I have been doing film contests at the other three so I thought it would be a shame if I didn’t tried Zooppa as well.
What do you like most about crowdsourced film contests?
The same as what I hate the most too, the excitement. (I’ve got my nerves on the outside)
What do you like to do when you’re not creating video masterpieces?
Spending time with my family and planning my next masterpiece.
Where is home for you?
Where do/did you go to school? How has your education influenced your filmmaking?
Luleås tekniska universitet. I studied TV-production. It’s sorry to say but I think that probably 95% of what I know about filmmaking has been self taught.
What/where do you find inspiration for your films? Share a bit about your creative process.
Usually from things that happens in or around my life, but also from other filmmakers on Vimeo and feature films/TV series. I spend a lot of time watching stuff on Vimeo.
Which was your favorite Zooppa contest to participate in? Why?
I have only participated once, so I have to say Lindsay.
What are you currently working on (job, films)?
Right now I’m planning a short film while having some sort of vacation.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future?
To direct my first feature before I’m 40, and then from there, I guess an Oscar?
